The Nigeria Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ), FCT Chapter, joins millions across the world in celebrating children on the occasion of the 2026 Children’s Day.
As we celebrate our children today, we are reminded that every child deserves love, protection, quality education, good healthcare, and the opportunity to achieve their dreams regardless of background or gender.
The state Chairperson NAWOJ FCT, Comrade Bassey Ita Ikpang, called on parents, government, stakeholders, and the society at large to continue investing in the welfare, safety, and future of Nigerian children, while also protecting them from abuse, exploitation, and all forms of violence.

We encourage children to remain hopeful, focused, and determined as they represent the future and pride of our nation.
Happy Children’s Day to every child.
As part of the celebration, NAWOJ FCT Chapter urged parents, guardians, educators, community leaders, and government institutions to work collectively towards creating a safe, supportive, and enabling environment where children can thrive without fear, abuse, neglect, or discrimination.
The association emphasized that every child deserves access to quality education, healthcare, moral guidance, and opportunities that will help them achieve their full potential.
The chapter further reaffirmed its commitment to advocating for the rights, welfare, and protection of children across the Federal Capital Territory and Nigeria at large. NAWOJ FCT called on relevant authorities to strengthen policies and programmes aimed at safeguarding children from violence, exploitation, child labour, trafficking, and all forms of abuse, while encouraging children to remain focused, disciplined, and hopeful as future leaders of the nation.
