NAWOJ Hails Bilkisu Maimota’s Historic Appointment as Kano Head of Service

The Nigeria Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ) has congratulated Hajia Bilkisu Maimota on her historic appointment as the Head of Service in Kano State, describing it as a major milestone for gender inclusion in governance.


In a press release issued on Friday, NAWOJ noted that the appointment reflects Hajia Maimota’s competence, dedication, and years of exemplary service to the state. The association said her elevation breaks longstanding barriers and sets a strong precedent for women in public service across Nigeria.


Reacting from Abuja, NAWOJ National Chairperson, Hajia Aisha Ibrahim, described the development as a bold affirmation of women’s leadership capacity.


“Hajia Maimota’s appointment is a bold statement that women are capable and ready to lead at the highest levels. It is a victory for merit, inclusion, and every young girl who dreams of serving her state and nation,” she said.


She further urged the new Head of Service to remain a beacon of excellence, expressing confidence that her leadership would reposition the Kano State Civil Service for greater efficiency and productivity.


NAWOJ emphasized that the appointment represents a win for gender equity and merit-based leadership, adding that it would inspire more women to aspire to top positions while promoting transparency and progress within the civil service.


The association also wished Hajia Bilkisu Maimota a successful and impactful tenure, expressing hope that her leadership would bring renewed growth and institutional development to Kano State.
