Niger : Deputy Governor Urges groups to Emulate Okoknyi Consultative Forum

The Niger State Deputy Governor, Comrade Yakubu Garba has urged groups and well-to-do individuals in the state to emulate Okoknyi Consultative Forum’s gesture, promising support for groups with positive intentions.

The Deputy Governor stated this during the commissioning of 20 bed capacity ward in kuta General Hospital in Shiroro local Government on Saturday.

Comrade Yakubu promised to support groups irrespective of political or religious in the area with positive minds towards the development of the council and state at large.

“This 20 bed capacity ward was built by think tank people of kuta to provide access to secondary health care services for the people from 15 wards of shiroro”.

He appreciated the forum for this kind gesture, stating that it would bridge infrastructure gap in the hospital and complement this administration health reforms initiative.

Yakubu Garba said the state government has begun constructing 100 health facilities and recruiting 1,000 healthcare workers to address infrastructure and manpower shortages.

He advised the youths in the area to imbibed the habit of respect for elders in the area also seek the pact of dialogue on issues bordering them.

Speaking Earlier, In his welcome address the Chairman of Shiroro Local Government Area, Alhaji Hakilu Isiyaku , praised the forum and encouraged others to follow suit.

Also speaking, Alhaji Suleiman Dauda Kuta, Chairman of Okoknyi Consultative Forum, said the project was part of their corporate social responsibility, adding that the project was complementing existing hospital structures to accommodate patients and for treating banditry victims from the communities.

The representative of the hospital management board, Dr. Abdussalam S. Salam, commended government commitment in health reforms while soliciting for additional man power and equipments for effective service delivery.
