Niger govt endorses prioritization to Developmental approaches to address Causes Conflicts and Grieviances

Niger state government has endorsed the prioritization of developmental approaches to security that addressed the rooted causes of conflicts and grieviances that non state actors often exploit.

The Secretary to the Government of Niger state Alhaji Abubakar Usman stated this at the executive intelligence management syndicate five course eighteen of the National Institute for security studies Abuja on a study tour held in Minna on monday.

The representative of the SSG permanent secretary General services Mohammed Makusidi acknowledged the importance of this study tour is timely ,saying the state we continue to witness the evolving roles of non state actors in both challenging and supporting our security architecture.

Abubakar Usman also disclosed that the governor has adopted a multi-faceted approach to security management that recognizes the importance of engaging constructively with non state actors.

He disclosed some of the key strategies involving the implementation social investment programs aimed at addressing the root causes of insecurity such as poverty ,unemployment, and social exclusion, which often drive individuals towards negative non state actors.

The SSG then commended the team leader,directing staff and participants, various MDAs, and other relevant stakeholders,while encouraging the participants to ask questions and be observant throughout their staying in the state.

Earlier , the Director of research, estimates and library services and leader of the National Institute for security studies Adekunle Bolarinwa explained that the theme of the course Non -state Actors in security management issues, challenges and prospects for peace and development in Africa is focused on fostering inter agencies synergy and equip the participants to be able to study the dynamics and complex security challenges.

The participants who were drawn from different countries, including Nigerian, are expected to have a one week study tour.
