Niger state Government has rescued 21 minors from a syndicate of human traffickers.
This was made known on Wednesday by the Deputy Governor Comrade Yakubu Garba during a press conference at his office in minna
Comrade Yakubu Garba explained that the 21 children rescued are from Magama local government area of the state.

The Deputy Governor also said human trafficking denigrates human dignity, stressing that it is a crime that strips off common ideals of brotherhood as well as destroys the fabric of society and undermines the government creed of protecting all citizens against trafficking, violence, oppression, injustice and other forms of vices.

Yakubu Garba also said the state government is perturbed and conscious of it obligation, hence no person should be subjected to inhumane treatment irrespective of their social, cultural, economic, religious or educational status.
Comrade Yakubu Garba also disclosed that the children were rescued from Gaidam in Yobe state enroute to Niger Repubic while further investigations are still being carried out to get to the root of the matter while the rescued children along with the alleged trafficker are under the custody of the Department of State Security, Niger State.
He then applauded the security agencies and particularly the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons NAPTIP for their efforts in the arrest of the suspect involved in the crime and subsequent profiling and return of the victims to Niger State.

Yakuba Garba further used the medium to call on traditional rulers, Council Chairmen, religious leaders and parents to always be vigilant and report any suspicious movement or activities of persons to the Law enforcement agencies as the Government will deal decisively with anyone who aids human trafficking under any form.
