NRC Boss Saga : NAWOJ National Secretariat Demands Public Apology for Harassment of Ex- National Chairperson

The Nigeria Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ) has condemned the harassment of its immediate past National Chairperson, Comrade Ladi Bala, by the Managing Director of the National Railway Corporation (NRC), Kayode Opeifa. In a press release signed by NAWOJ National Chairperson, Comrade Aisha Ibrahim, and National Secretary, Comrade Wasilah Ladan, the association demands a public apology from Opeifa.

The apology is to be published in more than one national daily and aired on an electronic media platform, such as radio or television. Additionally, NAWOJ demands that Opeifa apologizes to the Nigeria Television Authority (NTA) for demeaning the organization.

NAWOJ emphasizes the importance of press freedom and journalists’ safety in promoting transparency and accountability. The association calls for measures to prevent similar incidents against journalists in the future.

NAWOJ asserts that the wellbeing and protection of its members is of paramount importance and has urged the NRC MD to take immediate action.

The statement was jointly signed by Comrade Aisha Ibrahim, National Chairperson and Comrade Wasilah Ladan, National Secretary, Nigeria Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ) National Secretariat.
