NUJ @ 70 : Comrade Grace Ike Congratulates NAWOJ Presidents on Well-Deserved Recognition

In a historic style, The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) celebrated its 70th anniversary, marking a significant milestone in the organization. Comrade Grace Ike, Chairman of NUJ FCT, congratulated past and present Presidents of the Nigerian Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ) who were honored with a distinguished award for their outstanding contributions to journalism.

The awardees, including Dr. Brenda Akpan, Mrs. Hannatu Musa, Chief Moji Makanjuola, Pst Kande Daniel,
Rtn. Evelyn Onyilo, Hon Toro Oladapo, Hajia Fatima Abdulkareem, Hon Asabe Baba Nahaya, Yeye Ifeyinwa Omowole, Chief Ladi Bala,
Hajia Aisha Ibrahim Bura, were recognized for their dedication, leadership, and commitment to elevating women’s participation in the media. Their efforts have inspired countless females to pursue excellence in journalism and have championed gender equality, empowering women journalists and fostering a more inclusive media landscape.

Comrade Grace Ike encouraged the awardees to continue pushing boundaries, advocating for greater representation, and nurturing the next generation of women journalists. She emphasized that their visionary leadership is crucial in driving momentum towards full gender parity in journalism.

The NUJ FCT Chairman also expressed gratitude to the NUJ President, Comrade Alhassan Yahaya, and the first female Deputy President, Dr. Abimbola Oyetunde, for making the NUJ @ 70 celebration a memorable one.

The award recipients were congratulated on their well-earned honor, with Comrade Grace Ike praising their genuine passion and commitment to women’s participation in leadership. The recognition is a testament to their tireless efforts in shaping the future of journalism in Nigeria and beyond.
