Nwifuru lauds FCE Isu for Embracing Technical Education

The Governor of Ebonyi State, Rt. Hon. Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru , GGCEHF has praised the Federal College of Education Isu for embracing technical education. The Governor gave the commendation during the first matriculation ceremony of the Institution at the temporary site, Isu Onicha Local Government Area of Ebonyi State.

The Governor who was ably represented by the Commissioner for Education (Tertiary), Prof Amari Omaka Chukwu , SAN pledged synergy with the College and other tertiary institutions in the state to restore our educational sectors to its former glory by providing adequate, conducive and serene learning environment.

He advised the lecturers to adopt hands on, technological and vocational approach in impacting skill-based education to enable the students acquire practical knowledge before they graduate.

He charged the students who happened to be the pioneers of the College to take their studies seriously and put more emphasis on practicals and skill acquisition to enable them be self reliant after their studies, as the days of white collar jobs are narrowing.

In addition, he assured the College of the support of Ebonyi state government in vital areas possible to improve the learning condition of the college. The Governor further promised to partner with all institutions in the State – be it State, Private or Federal Institutions to compete with other reputable institutions nationally and to live up international best practices.

In his welcome address, the Provost, Prof Okey Reuben Okechukwu thanked the federal government for siting the institution at Ebonyi state for the entire South east. He further thanked Governor Rt Hon Francis Nwifuru for showing more concern in the educational sector as his primary objective.

He praised him for his commitments to revamp the decayed educational sector in the state and pledged to work with the state government to effectively achieve the governor’s educational mandate.

The college matriculated 157 students who were so please with the Governor for showing concern to improve on the learning condition of the students by providing all modern academic facilities.
