Rotary Club of Abuja CBD to Construct Classrooms in Gidan Gimba Community

The Rotary Club of Abuja CBD is set to make a positive impact in the Gidan Village community of Karu Local Government Area, Nasarawa State, as the new Rotary year begins on July 1st. One of the club’s star projects is the construction of two blocks of classrooms, furniture, and a Head Teacher’s office, estimated to cost N25 million.

Providing a Conducive Learning Environment
According to the Incoming President of the Rotary Club of Abuja CBD, Hajiya Lauratu Samaila Yenwan, the project aims to provide a conducive learning environment for pupils, aligning with Rotary’s area of focus on basic education and literacy.

According to a statement signed by the 2025- 2026 Public Image Chair Rtn. Evelyn Onyilo “The club has also proposed other projects, including the distribution of sanitary pads to girls, refurbishment of a borehole, tree planting campaigns, maternal and child health outreaches, and economic empowerment of internally displaced persons (IDPs)”.

The club requires about N35 million to execute these projects and has appealed to kind-hearted individuals to support and partner with them. A fundraising event is scheduled for July 4, 2025, at Shoprite Novare Central Office Park, Wuse Zone 5, Abuja.

The Rotary Club of Abuja CBD is led by Incoming President Hajiya Lauratu Samaila Yenwan, a seasoned businesswoman and accomplished leader. She takes over from Rotarian Katherine Adamu, MFR, and she holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Sociology from the University of Abuja.

The club is grateful for the support of partners and well-wishers. Dr. Jeremiah Umaru, a member of the House of Representatives, will chair the fundraising event, while Mr. Paddy Ezeala, a renowned journalist, will speak on the theme “Uniting for Good: Building a Better World, One Community at a Time”.
