The Deputy Chief Whip of the 10th Senate and Senator representing Ebonyi North Senatorial district has distributed 2200 bags of fertilizers to rural farmers across the fifty six electoral wards in his constituency. The vibrant Parliamentarian flagged off the distribution of the fertilizers at the Mbeke Ishieke primary school field, Ebonyi local government area of Ebonyi state on August 23, 2024.
Recall that Senator Nwebonyi had hosted four mega empowerment programmes in Mbeke Ishieke within his first one year in office ranging from the family thanksgiving on January 7, 2023 where he distributed 10 brand new cars, 100 motorcycles to party executives and other beneficiaries, distribution of modern farm inputs and food palliatives to over 25000 households and on April 5, 2024, Governor Nwifuru was at Mbeke Ishieke to officially flagg-off his N50m scholarship to indigent students.
The Chairman of the occasion and Principal Secretary to the Governor of Ebonyi state-Chief Mathias Adum who represented the Governor-His Excellency, Rt Hon Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru appreciated Senator Nwebonyi for his effective representation noting that this august event is the 4th time the Senator is inviting them to Mbeke Ishieke for empowerment programmes within his first one year in office. He further stated that Senator Nwebonyi had attracted the Ebonyi-Benue-Abuja link road passing through the Nwiboko Obodo road through Isophumini, Mbeke Ishieke, Ebonyi LGA of Ebonyi state to Apo, Abuja.
Chief Adum maintained that the current set of lawmakers Ebonyi state exported to the NASS is the best so far adding that Senator Nwebonyi is a shining light among them. He therefore charged other federal lawmakers to emulate him in his effective representation and constant interface with his constituents. Chief Adum effusively eulogized the state Governor-His Excellency, Rt Hon Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru for his innovative and transformational leadership style especially the ongoing N1m credit alerts to 1300 youths across the 13 council areas in the state.
In his remarks, Senator Nwebonyi who doubles as the Vice Chairman, ECOWAS Parliament’s Committee on Education, Science and Culture noted that twenty bags of fertilizer will be transported to each of the 56 electoral wards headquarters in Ebonyi North Senatorial district together with some cash gifts to the farmers. He stated that he believes that agriculture is the panacea to food security and enjoined the youths to engage in commercial agriculture instead of waiting endlessly for non-existent jobs.
In their separate goodwill messages, the Deputy leader of Ebonyi State House of Assembly-Hon. Joseph Ununu, the Commissioner for Capital City- Hon Sunday Inyima, the Ebonyi North APC Zonal Chairman- Hon John Nwankata, the Chairman of the Coordinator’s Forum- Hon Chidi Ogbonna and the Coordinator of Mbeke Development Centre – Hon Franklin Nwugwu all expressed their satisfactions with the leadership charisma and effective representation of Senator Nwebonyi thereby passing a vote of confidence in him assuring that his second term is not in doubt warning that nobody should contemplate contesting against him in 2027. They said that Senator Nwebonyi is making Ebonyi state proud in the 10th NASS.
The magnificent event was attended by principal officers of government, House of Assembly Members, traditional rulers, farmers, women groups, youth groups, support groups and indeed people from all walks of life.
