Senator Oluremi Tinubu Sparks Nationwide Movement for Female Power and Prosperity

At a pivotal moment for gender inclusion in Nigeria, Oluremi Tinubu has ignited what many are calling a transformative movement aimed at elevating women into positions of economic and political influence across the nation.

Speaking at the National Women Mega Empowerment and Rally held at Moshood Abiola Stadium in Abuja, the First Lady delivered a powerful message: women are not just contributors to national development they are central to it.

“The significance of this gathering cannot be overstated,” she told a packed audience. “We are not just participants in nation-building we are central to it.”
Her remarks signaled a decisive shift from long-standing advocacy toward coordinated, results-driven action. With women making up more than half of Nigeria’s population, Tinubu emphasized their untapped potential as a driving force for sustainable development.

A major focus of the rally was economic empowerment. Tinubu praised Imaan Sulaiman-Ibrahim, Minister of Women Affairs and Social Development, for implementing targeted initiatives that deliver financial resources directly to women an approach widely seen as key to stimulating grassroots economic growth.

Linking the initiative to the Renewed Hope Agenda of Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the First Lady reiterated the administration’s commitment to ensuring women are not only present in governance but actively shaping policy and outcomes.

One of the defining moments of the event was the presentation of the Women’s Charter for National Development a comprehensive framework outlining the aspirations of Nigerian women. The charter calls for increased political representation, better access to finance, expanded economic opportunities, and more inclusive governance structures.

Accepting the document, Tinubu described it as both a “social contract” and a “policy compass,” pledging to personally present it to the President. “This is our charter,” she affirmed. “And we will see it to fruition.”

Meanwhile, Minister Sulaiman-Ibrahim described the rally as the rise of a “coordinated and unstoppable force,” anchored by the ambitious “Power of 10 Million Women” initiative. The movement seeks to mobilize women across all 774 local government areas into a unified bloc capable of influencing governance, shaping public discourse, and driving economic inclusion at scale.

Speakers highlighted that while Nigerian women have consistently demonstrated capability across sectors from agriculture to entrepreneurship they have often lacked the structural coordination necessary to translate effort into broad influence. This new initiative aims to change that by aligning voices, resources, and action under a common vision.

Beyond economics and politics, the rally also underscored the role of women in shaping Nigeria’s moral and social fabric. Tinubu called on mothers and caregivers to remain committed to raising responsible, value-driven citizens.

As a symbolic gesture of empowerment, the First Lady distributed livelihood support items. including tricycles, power tillers, sewing machines, grinding machines, hair dryers, and freezers to boost women’s productivity and financial independence.

Analysts say the event marks a significant evolution from fragmented advocacy to structured mobilization with the potential to reshape Nigeria’s development trajectory.

With momentum building behind the “10 Million Women” movement and growing political backing at the highest levels, the message from Abuja is unmistakable: Nigerian women are organized, empowered, and ready to lead.
