By Jasmine Okogeri

In a shocking turn of events, parts of the Federal Ministry of Industry’s Industrial Development Centre at Shell Camp, Off Orlu Road, Owerri, have allegedly been sold to private developers. The development has sparked concerns among government agencies and stakeholders, who are questioning the legitimacy of the land sale.

The affected agencies, including the Medical Laboratory Scientists Council of Nigeria and the Federal Ministry of Labour and Employment’s Trade Testing and Certification Office, are being forced to vacate the area. Private developers have mounted gates at the entrance to these government offices and have begun erecting structures on the land.

The alleged sale of government land has raised eyebrows, with many calling for an investigation into the matter. The ICPC (Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission) has been urged to probe the officials of the Federal Ministry of Works and Housing, who are accused of selling the land to private developers.

As the situation unfolds, government agencies are bracing for the worst, with some offices reportedly facing demolition by private developers. The controversy surrounding the alleged illegal sale of Shell Camp has sparked a heated debate about government accountability and the need for transparency in land transactions.

The fate of the affected agencies and the future of the Shell Camp land remain uncertain, as stakeholders await the outcome of the investigation and possible resolution to the crisis.
