Kaduna State Governor, Senator Uba Sani, has announced the nomination of the immediate past Executive chairman of the Kaduna state Internal Revenue Service (KADIRS), Mr. Jerry Adams, as his running mate for the 2027 governorship election, describing the decision as a renewed commitment towards building a more united, peaceful and inclusive Kaduna State.
Governor Sani made the announcement after what he described as extensive consultations, deep reflection and prayers, stressing that the choice of Adams goes beyond selecting a deputy governor candidate but represents the administration’s commitment to fairness, justice, equity and equal representation.
According to the governor, Kaduna’s strength lies in its diversity of faiths, ethnic groups and cultures, adding that the state’s future depends on embracing unity rather than allowing differences to become sources of division. “Kaduna is
a remarkable state, blessed with extraordinary diversity of faiths, ethnicities and cultures. That diversity is not a burden; it is our greatest strength,” Governor Sani stated.
He noted that his administration, since assuming office on May 29, 2023, has focused on healing divisions, rebuilding trust in government and ensuring that the dividends of democracy reach every citizen across the 23 local government areas of the state.
The governor highlighted key areas of development, including road construction, education, healthcare, water supply, agriculture, rural development and social protection programmes, saying the government’s guiding principle has been that no community should be abandoned and no citizen should feel excluded.
He further explained that improved security, dialogue with traditional institutions, religious leaders, community groups, women and youth organisations have contributed to restoring confidence and encouraging farmers, businesses and investors to return to productive activities.
“Lasting peace is built not only by security measures but by fairness, inclusion and equal opportunity,” Sani said.
Explaining his choice of running mate, the governor described Jerry Adams as an accomplished public servant, a skilled tax administrator and an institution builder whose leadership transformed KADIRS into one of Nigeria’s respected revenue agencies.
He praised Adams for introducing innovation, transparency and professionalism in revenue administration, noting that his contributions strengthened the state’s financial capacity and supported investments in critical sectors such as education, healthcare, infrastructure and agriculture.
Beyond professional achievements, Governor Sani described Adams as a man of integrity, humility and commitment to peaceful coexistence, saying his emergence reflects the administration’s belief that competence, character and merit should define leadership choices.
“As we look towards 2027, I invite every son and daughter of Kaduna State to see this moment not through the narrow prism of religion, ethnicity or geography, but through the broader vision of the Kaduna we are building together,” the governor said.
The announcement comes at a time when political activities are gradually gaining momentum ahead of the 2027 general elections, with issues of representation, competence and unity expected to shape political conversations across Kaduna State.
Governor Sani expressed confidence that the partnership would further strengthen efforts towards creating a Kaduna that is more secure, prosperous and inclusive.
He called on citizens to support the vision of building a state where every child can dream without fear, every community can thrive and every resident has an equal stake in the future of Kaduna.
“Together, we shall continue to strengthen the foundation and hand over to future generations a state that is more united, more secure, more just and more prosperous than we inherited,” the governor said.
