The Nigeria Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ), FCT Chapter, expresses profound appreciation to the Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), FCT Council, Comrade Grace Ike, and the entire Executive Council for the honour and recognition accorded NAWOJIANS during the 2026 NUJ FCT Press Week.

For the first time in the history of the NUJ FCT Council, women journalists are carried along, fully recognised, and celebrated in large numbers at such a prestigious and remarkable event.
This clearly demonstrates that when women are part of the decision-making process, women are remembered, appreciated, and empowered.

In a statement signed by the Chairperson of NAWOJ FCT, Comrade Bassey Ita Ikpang, the association commends Comrade Grace Ike for organising a record-breaking Press Week that not only made journalists in the FCT proud but also gave members a true sense of belonging and inclusiveness.

NAWOJ FCT also congratulates Comrade Grace Ike on officially being bestowed with the crown of Miss NUJ.
Truly, she is a beauty to behold, representing the perfect combination of beauty, intelligence, leadership, and excellence, which has continued to place the NUJ FCT Council in an admirable and enviable position.

The association further rejoices with all NAWOJIANS who received awards during the event for distinguishing themselves in their various media beats. Your dedication, professionalism, and hard work continue to inspire others within the profession.
Special congratulations also go to Peace Uloma, a renowned publisher for her outstanding contributions to journalism over the years. Indeed, you are a veteran and a shining example to younger journalists.

While congratulating all the award recipients, the Chairperson encouraged other NAWOJIANS to remain committed to their duties, write impactful and inspiring reports, and continue to distinguish themselves professionally so that more women journalists will receive greater recognition and honours in the future.

NAWOJ FCT prays that God continues to bless and strengthen the Chairperson of the NUJ FCT Council, the first female Chairman of the Council and the official Miss NUJ, Comrade Grace Ike, as she continues to break barriers and inspire generations of women in journalism.
This was contained in a state signed by Comrade Bassey Ita Ikpang, Chairperson, NAWOJ FCT.
