It is said that the Apple does not fall far from the tree. Anyone, keeping track of events in the administration of Hon Nwachi, Timothy, A. U, the Executive Chairman of Afikpo Local Government Area of Ebonyi State from the first day he assumed duties, can now affirm that Peace & Security top his priority Agenda.
True to his actions, during his electioneering campaigns in the twelve Wards that make up Afikpo LGA, Hon Nwachi, Timothy A.U made it categorically clear that the safety of lives and property of residents of the area shall not be compromised under his watch by whatever circumstances.
In recognition of that and in obedience to the maxim rooted in Cicero’s De Legisbus ,”Salus Populi Suprema Lex” meaning “Safety and other welfare of the people are the greatest law”, the Executive Chairman, on Wednesday, 11th September 2024 held a maiden Security Meeting with all Security Chiefs in the Council Area in attendance.
The meeting had in attendance Officers of the Nigerian Army, Nigeria Police Force, DSS, NDLEA, FRSC, Immigration, NSCDC, Correctional Service.
During the session, the Council Chairman commended the Security Personnels for their sacrifices in ensuring that the Area is calm and implored them to redouble their efforts as he was ready to provide a conducive atmosphere for them to discharge their duties optimally and without fear or favour.
While announcing his zero tolerance for crimes and insecurity of any kind, the Council Chairman implored the Security operatives to join hands with his administration to achieve a well secured and prosperous Afikpo Local Government Area.
Speaking on behalf of the Security Heads, The Area Commander of the Nigeria Police Force, Afikpo, ACP James Ihiabe thanked the Council Chairman for the timely meeting with them and promised to work with him and other relevant stakeholders to maintain peace in Afikpo Local Government Area and its environs through sophisticated intelligence gathering methodology.
