Ayade Declares War on C’River PDP, Orders CRISSA to Dismantle Opposition Campaign Billboards

Governor Ben Ayade of Cross River has discreetly declared war against Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as it has ordered Cross River State Signage and Advertising Agency CRISSAA to pull
down the opposition candidates’ billboards in strategic locations across the state.

The directive is coming barley few days after INEC had given the nod for commencement political campaigns ahead of 2023 elections.

Checks revealed that CRISSAA, in the last three weeks, have been moving around pulling down PDP candidates’ billboards even when some of the candidates have met all the conditions including payments of agreed fees to CRISSAA account.

Checks further revealed that the like of Sen Sandy Onor, PDP governroship candidate and Rt Hon Eta Mbora are said to have paid all the agreed fees to enable them mount their campaign boards.

Inside sources said Ayade is said to be furious with what he called arrogant way and manner the opposition candidates display billboards in strategic locations across the state, wondering why a party as PDP, that is openly fighting his adminstration, should be given such privilege

Source close to CRISSAA said the DG has been under tremendous pressure from Ayade to pull down all PDP billbaords whether they have paid or not.

The source further revealed that it was based on that that CRISSAA went around destroying and pulling down campaign billboards at Diamond Hill, Ediba and Ikot Ishie axis of Calabar Municipality.

CISSAA has also allegdely pulled down some billboards at Odukpani junction and Okutirikang in Odukpani local government area just as the agency has detailed some of its “boys” to go round the state to remove campaign boards mounted by opposition.

Furhter checks showed some of the campaign boards that are not yet pulled down at the above locations have been defaced by agents agents of government.

Meanwhile,APC billboards are visible allover the state.

Calls put across to the Director General of CRISSAA, Mr. Effiom Effiwat, was not returned.
