The Chairman of Gwagwalada Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory, Alhaji Kassim Mohammed, has awarded scholarships to the four children of the late Director of Primary Health Department of the Council, Dr. Adeniran Adeyemi.
Alhaji Kassim Mohammed announced the scholarship when he paid a condolence visit to the family of the deceased in Gwagwalada, Abuja.
He said the scholarship would cover the children’s education up to university level.
The Chairman expressed sadness over the death of Dr. Adeniran Adeyemi, describing him as a hardworking, dedicated and committed member of the Council’s management staff who contributed immensely to the development of Gwagwalada Area Council, particularly in the area of healthcare delivery.
He also described the late Dr. Adeyemi as a philanthropist and God-fearing health practitioner, noting that his humanitarian services to the less privileged in Gwagwalada would remain indelible.
Alhaji Kassim Mohammed also announced a donation of one million naira to support the family, while praying God to grant them the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.
Receiving the Chairman on behalf of the family, a close associate of the deceased, Pharmacist Dapo Adebosin, expressed gratitude to Alhaji Kassim Mohammed for the scholarship award and the financial support extended to the family.
Meanwhile, the Chairman’s wife, Alhaja Kassim Mohammed, members of the Council’s executive, members of the Legislative Arm, colleagues, associates and friends have continued to pay condolence visits to the family following the death of Dr. Adeniran Adeyemi.
Dr. Adeyemi died on Sunday at the University of Abuja Teaching Hospital, Gwagwalada, after a brief illness.
Until his death, he was the Director of Primary Health Department, Gwagwalada Area Council, FCT.
The family is expected to announce burial arrangements at a later date.
