Abuja, Nigeria – June 4, 2025
Today marks one year since the passing of our dearly beloved leader, mentor, and mother, Late Hajiya Lami Adamu Lau, the former National President of the National Council of Women Societies (NCWS) Nigeria. In solemn reflection and with hearts still heavy with grief, we remember a woman of immense courage, compassion, and conviction who devoted her life to the advancement of Nigerian women and girls.

Under her inspiring leadership, the NCWS experienced renewed vibrancy and national relevance. Hajiya Lami Adamu Lau championed causes that gave voice to the voiceless, prioritized the welfare of grassroots women, and worked tirelessly to ensure that women across all sectors of society had opportunities to thrive. Her tenure was marked by purposeful advocacy, integrity, and a deep dedication to the values that NCWS holds dear.
As we honour her memory, we, the members of the NCWS Nigeria under the current leadership of Princess Edna D. D. Azura, reaffirm our pledge to uphold the legacy of service, unity, and progress she left behind. Her contributions to national development and her efforts to build a strong, inclusive platform for Nigerian women will never be forgotten.
In her memory, let us unite in love and solidarity to carry forward the vision she held so dearly—a Nigeria where women are empowered, valued, and given a strong voice in every sphere of life.
May her memory forever be a blessing and a guiding light to us all.
