Niger State Deputy Governor Comrade Yakubu Garba has assured the people of mokwa local government area to remain calm as the state government will work tirelessly to ensure the safety of everybody .
Comrade Garba stated this during a sympathy visit to Mokwa over the devastating flood that claimed several lives and properties on Friday.
The Deputy Governor described the incident as saddening, heartbreaking and pathetic especially with resultant loss of many lives and properties.
He prayed that Allah gramt the decased Aljanna firdausi as well as grant quick recovery to the injured.
He then cautioned individuals to stop building on waterways to avoid occurrence in as much as this is a natural disaster and they should take it in good faith.
The Director General of NEMA Hajiya Zubaida Umar who said they have been on ground since yesterday equally sympathize with the victims
She said the first intervention they gave was in the areas of clearing the debris and also search and rescue, disclosing that over one hundred lives were loss with several people rendered homeless.
The NEMA Boss also asked people to stay clear waterways for the safety of their lives and properties, disclosing that they have brought some foods and non foods items for the victims to cushion the effects of the disaster.
