Re: Allegations of Planned Attack on Security Personnel in Amasiri

The attention of the peace-loving people of Amasiri has been drawn to a widely circulated statement attributed to the Edda Media Practitioners alleging that Amasiri community has concluded plans to attack Nigerian soldiers currently deployed in Amasiri. We categorically, unequivocally, and firmly state as follows:

1. Amasiri Has No Plan to Attack SoldiersAmasiri community has not attacked, attempted to attack, nor planned to attack any member of the Nigerian Armed Forces or any security personnel.Let it be clearly stated for the record:Amasiri has not thrown pebbles at the soldiers — not to talk of planning an attack. The soldiers currently deployed are officers of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, and we recognize and respect their constitutional role.

2. We Reject Any Attempt to Frame Amasiri We are deeply concerned by allegations suggesting that: Amasiri plans to lure soldiers into confrontation; Amasiri intends to ambush security forces;Amasiri is plotting to create confusion to implicate others. If any such plan exists anywhere, it is not authorized by the community, its elders, leadership, or law-abiding citizens.

We strongly suspect the possibility that:Certain actors may be attempting to stage or fabricate incidents in order to falsely implicate Amasiri and justify further punitive action. We therefore place this on public record in advance.

3. Call for Independent Digital Forensic VerificationThe statement relies heavily on alleged anonymous voice recordings. We demand that:All alleged audio clips be subjected to independent forensic analysis by security agencies; The origin, authenticity, metadata, and speakers be scientifically verified;Any individuals identified be treated as individuals — not as representatives of the Amasiri community.Anonymous, unverified voice notes circulating on WhatsApp cannot constitute proof against an entire community.

4. Amasiri’s Commitment to Peace Amasiri remains committed to: Lawful resolution of disputes; Cooperation with security agencies; Respect for the authority of the Government of Ebonyi State under Governor Francis Nwifuru; Protection of lives and property of all neighbouring communities, including Oso Edda.We reaffirm that violence only deepens wounds and prolongs suffering.

5. Appeal to the Nigerian Army and Security Agencies. We respectfully appeal to:The Nigerian Army. The Nigeria Police Force All joint task personnel on ground To remain guided strictly by professional rules of engagement and intelligence-based verification. The Nigerian Army, as earlier clarified publicly by Lt. Col. Emmanuel Chielo at Abakaliki Cantonment, has previously debunked misinformation regarding alleged killings of soldiers. We commend such transparency and urge continued professionalism.

6. Warning Against Collective Punishment to community should be judged, sanctioned, or militarily treated based on:Unverified audio clips;Social media propaganda;Generalized accusations.Under the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, criminal responsibility is individual — not collective.

7. Our Position on Allegations Regarding Past Incidents We note references to alleged attacks between 2023 and 2026. These matters, where they exist, are properly within the jurisdiction of investigative authorities and courts of law.We encourage:Transparent investigations;Prosecution of proven offenders (whoever they may be);Rejection of media trials.Justice must be evidence-based, not narrative-driven.

8. Pre-Emptive Notice to the PublicLet this statement serve as a formal public record:If any attack occurs against soldiers or neighbouring communities, Amasiri community rejects responsibility for any act not lawfully established through due investigation. We urge all parties to refrain from provocation, staged incidents, or inflammatory rhetoric capable of escalating tensions.

9. Call for Dialogue and Independent MonitoringWe propose:Neutral mediation involving traditional rulers, clergy, and civil society;Independent observers to monitor the security situation;Immediate de-escalation of hostile narratives in media.Peace cannot thrive in an atmosphere of accusation and counter-accusation.ConclusionAmasiri is a law-abiding community. We seek peace. We seek justice. We seek truth. We will continue to cooperate with lawful authorities while rejecting any attempt to criminalize an entire people through unverified claims.Let restraint, professionalism, and dialogue guide all actions at this critical time.
