Moscow, June 18 — Russia and Nigeria have reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening long-standing bilateral relations following a meeting between Russia’s Deputy Foreign Minister and Nigeria’s newly appointed ambassador to Moscow.

On June 18, G.E. Borisenko, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, received Joseph Olusola Iji, the newly appointed Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Nigeria to the Russian Federation, who presented copies of his credentials.
The meeting provided an opportunity for both sides to review key areas of cooperation and discuss ways to further strengthen the traditionally friendly ties between the two countries. Discussions focused on intensifying political dialogue and expanding collaboration across several strategic sectors.
According to the discussions, Russia and Nigeria expressed interest in deepening bilateral cooperation in trade and economic relations, as well as in scientific, technical and humanitarian fields. The parties also explored opportunities to broaden engagement in other areas of mutual interest as both nations seek to advance their partnership.
The meeting underscores the continued commitment of both governments to enhancing diplomatic engagement and fostering closer cooperation in support of shared development goals and mutually beneficial relations between Russia and Nigeria.
