Engr. Ken Eze, senator representing Ebonyi Central and Chairman of the Senate Committee on Information and National Orientation, has been honoured in Zhengzhou, China, with two international certificates of excellence after completing a one-month intensive course on Food System Transition and Security for African English-speaking countries.

According to a statement by his Legislative Secretary, Godwin Nwafor, Senator Eze was nominated by the 10th National Assembly to represent Nigeria at the prestigious programme, hosted by Henan University of Technology.

The Senator’s recognition was attributed to his impactful contributions to agricultural development, legislative effectiveness, and human capacity building.

In his keynote address, Eze called for deeper Africa-China cooperation in adopting modern, technology-driven agricultural models to combat food insecurity, especially in the face of climate change, insecurity, and rapid population growth.

He stressed that food security is not just an agricultural issue but also a matter of national security, economic stability, and human survival.

The lawmaker promised to apply the knowledge gained to strengthen Nigeria’s legislative framework, focusing on agribusiness expansion and farmer empowerment.

The Henan University authorities praised him as a “distinguished ambassador of Nigeria,” noting that his recognition would inspire further reforms toward sustainable food systems across Africa.

Senator Eze also commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda and Governor Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru’s People’s Charter of Needs initiative, describing farmer empowerment and safety as the bedrock of lasting food security in Nigeria.
