The International President, Board of Trustees, National Executive Council, and the entire members of Standup For Women Society (SWS) proudly celebrate an exceptional leader, Lib. Edna Uchey-Adigwu, whose exemplary service has set a remarkable standard for leadership, accountability, and integrity within our great organization.
After successfully serving as the Rivers State Chapter Chairperson for two consecutive terms of two years each, Lib. Edna has demonstrated that true leadership is measured not only by the office one occupies but by the legacy one leaves behind.

As she concludes her tenure, she has become the first State Chapter Chairperson in the history of Standup For Women Society (SWS) to conduct a formal and official handover of office in an orderly, transparent, and highly commendable manner. Even more inspiring is the fact that the key members of her State Executive equally carried out proper handovers in their respective offices.
In a rare demonstration of accountability and prudent financial management, the State Treasurer rendered a comprehensive financial report, with funds remaining in the State account at the point of transition. This reflects a culture of transparency, responsibility, and good governance that every Chapter should strive to emulate.
Rather than viewing leadership transition as an end, Lib. Edna wholeheartedly embraced the process by coordinating the successful emergence of the new Rivers State Chapter Chairperson, offering her full support, encouragement, and commitment to ensure continuity and progress. This is the hallmark of selfless leadership.
It is also worthy of note that, in recognition of her outstanding performance, exceptional leadership, and remarkable achievements, Lib. Edna Uchey-Adigwu was honoured as the CHAIRPERSON OF THE YEAR 2025. This prestigious recognition further attests to her unwavering dedication, hard work, and the positive impact she has made within Standup For Women Society.
Her outstanding performance, dedication to duty, unwavering commitment to the vision of Standup For Women Society, and exemplary leadership have earned her the confidence of the National Leadership.
Accordingly, I am delighted to announce her appointment as the National Gender-Based Violence (GBV) Specialist of Standup For Women Society (SWS). In this strategic national role, she will provide technical leadership, strengthen our advocacy against Gender-Based Violence, support policy development, build capacity across our Chapters, and advance our mission of protecting the rights, dignity, and well-being of women and girls.
Furthermore, in recognition of her exceptional contributions, distinguished leadership, and invaluable service to the Society, Lib. Edna Uchey-Adigwu will be honoured with a Special Award of Excellence during the 5th Standup For Women Society (SWS) International Conference, scheduled to hold in Abuja.
Her story reminds us that leadership is not about holding a position; it is about serving with integrity, building strong institutions, being accountable, and preparing others to succeed. She has left behind not just a completed tenure, but a legacy worthy of celebration and emulation.
I encourage every Chairperson, Executive Member, and leader across all Chapters to learn from this shining example. Let us embrace accountability, transparency, proper documentation, responsible financial management, teamwork, and smooth leadership transition. These values will strengthen our organization and ensure its continued growth and credibility.
Congratulations, Lib. Edna Uchey-Adigwu, on your well-deserved national appointment and recognition. Thank you for your outstanding service, exemplary leadership, and unwavering commitment to the ideals of Standup For Women Society.
Your legacy will continue to inspire generations of leaders.
Congratulations once again!
