The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA), through the Education Resource Centre (ERC), has reiterated the importance of effective examination monitoring as a critical tool for ensuring the credibility, standardisation, and smooth conduct of examinations across the Federal Capital Territory.

In line with its statutory mandate of promoting quality assurance and maintaining standards in the administration of examinations, the Director, Education Resource Centre, Dr. Neemat Daud Abdulrahim, led a monitoring team on an inspection tour of selected examination centres within the Territory.

The exercise covered the Nigerian Defence Academy Screening Test (NDAST) for admission into the 78 Regular Course conducted through a Computer-Based Test (CBT), as well as the ongoing Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) at the Kubwa Centre.

Speaking during the exercise, Dr. Abdulrahim explained that the ERC is responsible for coordinating, standardising, and monitoring all examinations conducted within the FCT to ensure compliance with approved guidelines and best practices.

She stated that the monitoring exercise was aimed at assessing the adequacy of examination materials, the availability of qualified invigilators and supervisors, adherence to examination procedures, and the overall preparedness of centres to guarantee a seamless and credible examination process.

According to her, the ERC has consistently monitored the Nigerian Defence Academy Screening Test over the years to ensure that registered candidates are provided with a conducive environment to undertake the examination. She added that the FCT Administration, in collaboration with the media, remains committed to creating awareness and disseminating relevant information to prospective candidates and the general public.

Dr. Abdulrahim noted that effective monitoring remains an indispensable component of quality assurance in education, as it safeguards the integrity of examinations, promotes transparency, and strengthens public confidence in the assessment process.

“The Education Resource Centre remains committed to ensuring that every examination conducted within the Federal Capital Territory meets acceptable standards. Through our monitoring activities, we assess compliance with established guidelines, identify areas requiring improvement, and provide the necessary support to ensure the successful conduct of examinations,” she stated.

The Director further observed that the FCT has continued to record remarkable success in examination administration and monitoring, attributing the achievement to the unwavering commitment of the FCT Administration to educational excellence and the collaborative efforts of key stakeholders in the education sector.

She expressed satisfaction with the level of compliance observed at the centres visited, commending examination officials for their professionalism and candidates for their orderly conduct throughout the exercise.

Dr. Abdulrahim also commended the Honourable Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Barrister Nyesom Wike, CON, and the FCT Education Secretariat for their sustained support towards strengthening quality assurance mechanisms and improving educational standards across the Territory.

She noted that the Administration’s continued investments in the education sector have significantly enhanced teaching, learning, and examination processes, resulting in improved standards across schools and examination centres in the FCT.

The Director reaffirmed the commitment of the Education Resource Centre to sustaining effective monitoring and quality assurance practices, while continuing to collaborate with relevant stakeholders to promote excellence, accountability, transparency, and integrity in the conduct of examinations within the Federal Capital Territory.
