The Director general of Educational and school reform Niger State, Hajiya Maimuna Mohammed, has applauded Niger foods and Logistics Company Ltd for believing in their dreams by helping in the expansion process of the ministry’s pilot scheme of school farm garden initiative and intervention program.

The DG said that the reform concept that lead to the introduction of farming in five selected schools in the state capital is inline with the new world order, modern technology and scientific ways of farming.
She further said that because of the systematic failure in education in the state, present administration under farmer Governor Umar Mohammed Bago mandated all schools to teach publics and student entrepreneurship. This she said gave birth to these school farm garden initiative.
Mohammed also said that the choice of selecting the schools involved were done base on the school land space and security, added that Maryam Babangida science college Minna, Government girls secondary school Minna, a normadic school and some smart schools are the first phase of the pilot scheme.
Meanwhile, the state liaison officer between Niger food and Logistics Company and office of the DG school reform, Joyce Jiya, said that Niger food is supporting boarding schools with farming equipments such as seedlings, tractors and herbicides to help them feed from what they produce.
She added that about 10 Heacters of land is being cultivated by students of Maryam Babangida science college and government girls secondary school Minna.
